Committee Descriptions
The bulk of the work done by GCAEYC is done in committees. Committees are composed of board members and interested members of the association or community. You do not have to be a member of GCAEYC to work on a committee.
Programming
- Meets four-six times a year
- Plans and coordinates affiliate sponsored conferences, Expos, workshops, and other professional development activities
- Explores and recommends ideas for Nautilus Newsletter and GCAEYC Website
Governance
- Meets two-four times a year
- Assesses the board's current composition and identify needs
- Identifies and cultivates prospective board members
- Oversees the election of board members
Finance
- Meets twice a year
- Coordinates the board's financial oversight responsibilities
- Monitors financial records; reviews and oversees the creating of accurate, timely, and meaningful financial statements to be presented to the board
- Monitors budget implementation and financial procedures
Membership
- Meets two-four times a year
- Recruits and maintains inclusive affiliate membership
- Supports affiliate development
- Reduces or eliminate barriers to membership or active participation
- Make recommendations to board about changes in member services
Public Policy
- Meets two-four times a year
- Develop annually the public policy priorities for issues related to children ages 0-8 and the field, in the context of the political climate and legislative/regulatory schedule of the state
- Provide technical assistance and training on advocacy and public policy at affiliate meetings
- Provide public policy information/training at conferences, in newsletters, and other member communications
- Plans and coordinates activities for Week of the Young Child
Accreditation
- Meets twice a year
- Supports accreditation goals of NAEYC and Texas AEYC
- Promotes enthusiasm for compliance with accreditation standards
- Recognizes programs attaining accreditation status
- Recommends for board approval services and resources for accreditation technical assistance to interested programs
- Conducts accreditation workshops at conferences
- Coordinates accreditation tours
